Burmese Star Tortoise (G. platynota)

The Burmese star tortoise is native to the dry, deciduous forests of Myanmar and is close to extinction because it is eaten by the native Burmese. It has very distinctive bumps on its strongly domed carapace that resembles a star pattern. The species’ population is on the rise due to successful reintroduction and conservation efforts.
