The Hispaniola amazon, also known as cuca, is a parrot that is endemic to Hispaniola and has been introduced to Puerto Rico. They are characterized by their white forehead, pale beak, white eye-ring, blue ear patch, and red belly. They inhabit dry forests, moist lowland forests, moist montane forests, and plantations. Due to habitat loss and poaching for the pet trade, the wild population is threatened. They can be found in pairs or in small groups and feed on fruits, berries, seeds, and nuts.
