The red-crowned Amazon, also known as the green-cheeked amazon or Mexican red-headed parrot, is native to northeastern Mexico and possibly southern Texas. They may be seen in large flocks and are quite noisy in the mornings and in the evenings. Like most parrots, they nest in tree cavities and feed on seeds, fruits, flowers, and nectar. They are also monogamous and mate for life.
