The Congo African grey parrot inhabits the moist lowland forests, mangroves, wooded savannahs, and gardens. Their preferred roosting locations are on islands and over water and nest in tree holes. In the driest months, this species makes seasonal movements to better-suited areas. These social birds are monogamous but live in colonies. In captivity, they will live between 40 to 50 years old but in the wild, it averages around 22.7 years. Though they are social with each other they are very shy around humans. These parrots, for the most part, are herbivorous but they will consume insects.
