The white-crowned parrot, also known as the white-crowned pionus, is from eastern Mexico to western Panama. They inhabit the lowlands and foothills up to 1600 m altitude in forest canopy and edges. The adult parrots have a white forehead and crown with an also white throat. The rest of the head and neck is a dull dark blue. They can be found in a flock of 30-50 birds
